ABOUT THE PROJECT
CleanConnect: Cooperation, Mapping and Civic Action is a regional environmental cooperation project connecting organizations from Kosovo, Albania, Poland and Slovakia.
The project aims to strengthen cooperation between Western Balkan and Visegrad partners through digital mapping, civic mobilization, local trainings, partner exchange and World Cleanup Day 2027 activities.
The project will use existing tools such as TrashOut and Planet Heroes to support the identification and documentation of polluted areas and illegal dumpsites. Instead of developing a new application, the project will use available digital platforms and practical community-based methods to make pollution more visible and to mobilize citizens, volunteers and local institutions.

Overall Objective
To strengthen regional cooperation and civic environmental action by connecting digital mapping, community mobilization, partner exchange and World Cleanup Day 2027 activities in Kosovo, Albania, Poland and Slovakia.
Specific Objectives
- Develop a shared mapping and civic action approach for partner organizations.
- Prepare local teams to use TrashOut and Planet Heroes for documenting polluted areas and cleanup activities.
- Mobilize citizens, youth and volunteers to participate in mapping campaigns.
- Strengthen cooperation between organizations from the Western Balkans and Visegrad region.
- Use mapping results to support more targeted World Cleanup Day 2027 activities.
- Increase visibility of illegal dumping and encourage local institutional response.
Main Activities
1. Project Preparation and Shared Mapping Framework
Preparation of the common methodology, reporting template, communication approach and practical guidance for all partners.
2. Online Coordination and Digital Mapping Orientation
Online expert sessions with TrashOut and Planet Heroes to understand the practical use of the tools, data visibility, reporting options and limitations.
3. Local Preparation and Training for Mapping Campaigns
Local trainings and orientation sessions in Kosovo, Albania, Poland and Slovakia for volunteers and local teams.
4. Regional Workshop in Albania
A regional exchange workshop in Albania for partner representatives, focused on mapping, civic mobilization, World Cleanup Day experience and practical lessons.
5. Local Mapping Campaigns in Four Countries
Mapping of polluted areas and illegal dumpsites using TrashOut and Planet Heroes.
6. World Cleanup Day 2027 Mobilization and Civic Action
Cleanup and civic environmental actions in all partner countries, using mapping results to guide and promote action.
